I’m so impressed by everything I’ve
seen today. You just can’t, short of real-time
experience, you can’t beat this kind of facility. The atmosphere is kind of
electric as we watch those trainees in operation, nursing, podiatry and you can
just see how places like this bring learning to life. Brighton University is
critical in the life of the town, the economics of the town, the vibrancy of the town and of course moving into the future, we really need to
invest in these kind of skills so we have that workforce of the future and of
course it opens doors of opportunities. So I love that there is this
high-performing, this centre of excellence here in my hometown. One of
the things particularly around delivering social care, it’s gonna be
incredibly important to attract far greater numbers into social care
provision, and not just to bring people in but to keep them in that sort of
sector, and to do that we need to provide those sort of ladders of opportunity so
people come in to one role and they learn and they build their experience
and they build their skills but then they can go on and go up to new roles,
challenging roles, roles with more responsibility and to build through
those income scales too. So, actually this kind of learning really fits so
squarely with that, bringing people in, keeping people in, keeping people
learning and developing as professionals. Because therein lies not just the skills
for the future, but that really important sense of achievement.
